What is CAP-537

CAP-537 Volunteer Chaplain Services is La Familia Simón Foundation's chaplaincy program, providing trained volunteer chaplains who offer spiritual presence, crisis support, and community care — welcoming individuals of any faith tradition or none. In Singapore, the program is being established as CAP-537 Volunteer Chaplain Services — Singapore & Asia-Pacific.

Our approach

Chaplaincy under this program is non-clinical, non-denominational in practice, and grounded in presence, listening, and respect. Our chaplains do not proselytize; they accompany people through hospital stays, crisis moments, bereavement, and community need, regardless of religious background.

Principles

• Religious neutrality. Chaplains serve people of every faith tradition, and none, without imposing belief.
• Confidentiality. What is shared with a chaplain is held in confidence, consistent with our safeguarding standards.
• Cultural respect. Chaplains are trained to serve Singapore's multicultural, multi-religious community with sensitivity.
• Non-discrimination. Services are offered without regard to race, nationality, religion, or background.
• Safeguarding. All volunteer chaplains complete training on ethical boundaries and protection of vulnerable individuals.
• Supervision. Chaplains operate under the oversight of the Chief Chaplain & Executive Director and program supervisors.

Becoming a volunteer chaplain

Volunteer chaplains complete a structured training and supervision process covering ethics, confidentiality, cultural competency, and the boundaries of non-clinical care.
